The Ducks who are on a huge losing knew a change was going to be made but many didn’t expect the exchange with the Dallas Stars. After 8 years of being a Duck, Andrew Cogliano hangs up his Ducks jerseys (black, white and the third jerseys worn as a Duck. Cogliano now will wear green and white as a player on the Dallas Stars.
The Ducks have acquired center Devin Shore from the Dallas Stars in exchange for left wing Andrew Cogliano.
Here is a little about the newest Duck Devin Shore:
Shore, 24 (7/19/94), has collected 29-53=82 points in 209 career NHL games with Dallas. The 6-1, 205-pound center earned 5-12=17 points with an even plus/minus rating in 42 games with Dallas this season. At the time of the trade, Shore co-led the Stars in game-winning goals (3) and ranked tied for seventh on the team in points. Shore set career highs in goals (13) and points (33) during the 2016-17 season and followed up with a personal best in assists (21) and shots on goal (123) last season. The Ajax, Ontario native played all 82 regular-season games in both 2016-17 and 2017-18, joining Tyler Seguin as the only two Dallas players to do so.
Selected by Dallas in the second round (61st overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Shore played collegiate hockey with the University of Maine Black Bears (Hockey East). In three seasons with the Black Bears, Shore earned 34-70=104 points in 112 career games from 2012-15 and served as team captain in 2014-15. Shore earned a selection to the 2013-14 All-Hockey East First Team in his sophomore season and was named to the 2014-15 Hockey East Second All-Star Team in his junior campaign.
Here is what the Ducks lost in the exchange and Cogliano will be greatly missed:
Cogliano, 31 (6/14/87), appeared in 584 games with Anaheim over eight seasons, earning 102-131=233 points with a +61 rating. Cogliano co-led franchise leaders in shorthanded goals (16) and shorthanded points (21), ranked sixth in plus/minus (+61), tied for seventh in goals and 10th in points. The 5-10, 177-pound left wing also recorded 8-17=25 points in 64 career playoff games with Anaheim.
Acquired from Edmonton in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Draft on July 12, 2011, Cogliano posted the fourth-longest consecutive games streak in NHL history and third-longest in the NHL/NBA/MLB from the start of a career (830 games) from Oct. 4, 2007-Jan.13, 2018. The Toronto, Ontario native currently owns 159-220=379 points with a +39 rating in 912 career NHL games with Anaheim and Edmonton.
