Player Review: Kevin Roy

Rookie- Kevin Roy by Youtube.jpgPhoto by YouTube

Recently signed Kevin Roy to a 1 year 2 way contract. He got the call in November and made every second on the ice count.

His NHL debut on November 9th against Vancouver Canucks and he was effective on the ice.

Roy played 25 NHL games with the Ducks during the season. Roy recorded 6 goals and 7 points.

When Carlyle see’s something good in a player he rewards them… when he increased production is when he got increased ice time. He got moved up in lines to where he went to skating on the ice with Adam Henrique.

Roy set a record on December 14 vs St. Louis Blues, became the first Ducks rookie to score 2 goals in less than 3-minutes. Bobby Ryan was the last rookie Ducks that set that record.

Season outlook according to the Anaheim Ducks

Roy enters camp looking to find a roster spot for the upcoming season. This offseason, he signed a one-year, two-way contract with the team. The offensive skills are there, as he showed in limited time last season.

Like many of the rookies called up last season… during training camp they are really proving to the Anaheim Ducks that he deserves an official spot on the roster as an NHL Duck. He is going to need to put in the hard work during training camp and give everything and we will wait and see in October which rookies got a spot to play with the big guns on the Anaheim Ducks roster for 2018-19 NHL season.
