Player Review: Andrej Sustr

The Anaheim Ducks signed 28 year old defenseman Andrej Sustr to a one year on July 5th.

He spent his entire career in the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning, 318 games, 10 goals, 53 assists, and 141 penalty minutes.

Season outlook according to the Anaheim Ducks:

Sustr’s size (6-foot-7, 220 pounds) makes him a physically imposing presence on a Ducks blueline that already includes Hampus Lindholm (6-foot-3) and Josh Manson (6-foot-3). If the 6-foot-4 Pettersson makes the team, Anaheim’s defense is loaded with size.

Looking at his career stats on penalties reminds me of a young Kevin Bieksa. He isn’t the fighter that Bieksa was but he is another defender that will add some depth to the Anaheim Ducks blueline.
