Player Review: Hampus Lindholm

Some have said that Hampus Lindholm has been considered to be one of the best young defensive bluliners in the NHL and last season he kicked it up a notch when he attacking the opponent, shown a lot in the end of the 2017-18 season.

This season Lindholm got his first ever NHL career ‘hat trick’ on December 21st (nice Christmas present if you ask me). His 3rd goal that got him the hat trick was the overtime game winning goal 5-4 victory over the New York Islanders.

His pairing with Josh Manson has become known as an aggressive and effective pairing on the ice because  they just make things happen out on the ice.

He didn’t have many goals this season, he managed to score 13 goals out of 131 SOG (shots on goal).

Season outlook according to the Anaheim Ducks:

As the Ducks look to get faster and concentrate more on puck possession this coming season, both strategies play to Lindholm’s strengths as a skater and puck-mover. All signs point to him again pairing with Manson on Anaheim’s top pairing unit, as they bolster a young Ducks defensive unit that – along with the likes of Cam Fowler and Brandon Montour – is among the best in the game. And unlike last year, Lindholm looks to go into the 2018-19 season healthy from the outset.

Lindholm, who several years ago publicly stated his goal of being the best defenseman in the league, said during an offseason Q&A with fans on The Athletic website that his goal this offseason is to “Get stronger and quicker. I want to have an even better season next year.”

In offseason the Swedish players Rickard Rakell and Hampus Lindholm represented team Sweden in the IIHF World Championship, team Sweden won the Gold medal.

Hopefully the Swedish players will start strong and will remain that way for the entire 2018-19 season.

Looking forward to see the attacking player we saw at the end of last season is how Lindholm starts the 2018-19 season.
