Player Review: Nick Ritchie

Nick Ritchie is a Duck that has the strangest way in getting the puck to the back of the net. He’s a big forward but over the season we saw the grit and tough to make hard and heavy hits and punches when it is needed during a game. When we see him play like that is when he is taking advantage of his strength to be the strong player that he is.

Season outlook according to the Anaheim Ducks:

Ducks Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Murray said recently that contract negotiations are ongoing with Ritchie, a restricted free agent. Murray says he’s hopeful to have both players under contract sooner than later. “This is the one time where we have a little leverage,” he said at an Orange Alliance member event earlier this summer. “Nowadays when you don’t get very much leverage with the players, you have to take advantage of it. We’ll fight the good fight and be fair with them. But it could go just like with Hampus [Lindholm] and Ricky [Rakell].”

Sometimes it’s hard to forget Ritchie is only 22 years old. While there has been inconsistency in his game over the course of his brief NHL career, Ritchie has shown flashes of dominance, especially when he uses his size and strength to his advantage. Could the upcoming season mark his breakthrough year? Only time will tell.
