The Anaheim Ducks recalled defenseman Andy Welinski from the San Diego Gulls (AHL) to join the mighty Duck Side for Star Wars Night. During the morning skate Welinski joined the Duck Side, he is a defenseman that is familiar with skating with NHL Jedi Duck Kevin Bieksa, but had not played in a NHL career game. Monday marked the day were the newest Jedi to join the Duck Side would take part in the battle against the Dark Side.

Some words from Jedi Welinski (telling his parents about playing in NHL-being called up): It’s definately exciting. Calling my parents and waking them out of bed was probably a call they’re willing to forgive me for. Just going through the process as it develops.

Welinski got the call around basically midnight saying that he would be flying to Southern California to join the Ducks.

Interesting Fact: Welinski was among 7 players from Anaheim to be drafted in 2011.

The Ducks that were on that list were players that have become Jedi’s for the Duck Side and are still with the Duck Side. Some of the Jedi’s that were drafted back then were Jedi Rickard Rakell, Jedi Goalie John Gibson, Jedi Josh Manson

LET’S GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
