So, according to an article written by Kyle Shohara, the Ducks are playing their first home game without some key players, which means that the Ducks needed to make some adjustments to their line-up. As many of you know Ryan Kesler, Hampus Lindholm, and Sami Vatanen had surgeries during the off season hopefully will return to playing sooner than later in the season. Also, they are starting off the season without one of the Anaheim Ducks’ best scorers, Patrick Eaves. Eaves didn’t play in one single pre-season games. If that isn’t enough they will be without backup goalie, Ryan Miller due to an upper-body injury he obtained during pre-season. Then on top of that Ryan Getzlaf is out of the lineup tonight with an unknown injury, but this was announced by Randy Carlyle after the morning skate. So what is a coach to do all about this?
According to the Anaheim Ducks, they have recalled left wing Giovanni Fiore for the San Diego Gulls. If one were to guess the reason behind this decision, I would say that they did this due to Ryan Getzlaf’s unknown injury that he has obtained.
Despite all the injuries that the Ducks players have, tonight is a special night for Anaheim Duck, Derek Grant. Tonight will be Derek Grant’s NHL Debut who is the 27-year old that made it out of training camp, according to Shohara, Grant split duties with Antoine Vermette in line rushes with Jared Boll and Ondrej Kase yesterday. I am looking forward to see how the team is going to do without the players that are being scratched because of their injuries.
I am looking for some Corey Perry scoring action to take off from game 1 of the regular season. #ScoreyPerry Also, so scoring help from Rickard Rakell. #RikRakAttack. And some action from Jared Boll…”I came in like a wrecking Boll” or “Look out for the Bolldozer” and add in Josh Manson with his hard hits it is going to be one interesting game tonight.
LET’S GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
